The front page reports that the Army Air Force will send a couple delegations of officers to the various fronts to determine what military aid the British need. One of the officers is Major James H. Doolittle, an aviation pioneer who became an Air Corps reserve pilot during the World War and went on to become one of America’s most famous pilots. He was a test pilot, engineer, and racer…
The Soviets say that the Nazis are trying to win favor in Iran by telling them that Adolf Hitler has become Islamic (see page seven). We are told he has also changed his name to Hyder Ali, to honor the 18th Century Muslim leader who fought the British during the Mysore Wars. The Iranains don’t seem to be buying the act…
Sports start on page 44, and over 98,000 Soldier Field fans saw their the Monsters of Midway hand the College All-Star squad a 37-13 defeat. This is the third time the Bears faced the college all-stars since the series began in 1934. On the next page the Cardinals are now just one game behind the Dodgers in the National League pennant race.
