Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt during his third inauguration on Jan. 20, 1941. This will be his last full term in office. Left of the president is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Charles Evans Hughes, who administered the oath of office.

Today’s edition features several shots from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s record third inauguration from the previous day. Hundreds of thousands lined the streets to cheer the president… Sports begins on page 14, which announces Brooklyn Dodgers two-time All-Pro kicker Ralph Kercheval has been called to active duty. Kercheval will serve in the Cavalry during the war and reaches the rank of lieutenant colonel.
