NASA Canberra

NASA’s B-57B during a flight in 1982

I was listening to an aviation podcast the other day and heard someone mention that NASA flew the B-57 Canberra, which was the first American jet bomber to see combat service (Vietnam). The B-57 first flew in 1953 — five years before NASA was founded. NASA uses these planes to conduct atmospheric research and also performed tests for the Viking landings on Mars in the 1970s.
