Page three mentions George Hopkins, who made a stunt parachute jump onto Wyoming’s Devils Tower in October which became a national spectacle. Thanks to help from a senator Hopkins will be joining in the Army… Page 18 reports that the Universities of Iowa and Georgia will host flight aviation academies for flight cadets, and two additional schools will be named soon. Many college and professional athletes will attend Iowa and Georgia Pre-Flight, making for some incredibly talented football and baseball clubs…

Sports section begins on page 24, where columnist Francis E. Stan predicts the New York Yankees will face the St. Louis Cardinals in this year’s World Series. Speaking of Yankees, the immortal Babe Ruth turns 48 today and is headed to Hollywood. Meanwhile, the drama of night baseball continues as Jimmie Foxx points out that hitters will be at a disadvantage as they can only see half the ball under the lights.
