Page five features photographs of the Consolidated factory where PBY Catalina fuselages are lined up for assembly and the PB2Y Coronado is pictured in flight. The PB2Y was intended to be an upgrade for the Catalinas, but these “flying battleships” mostly serve in transport roles. The Consolidated PBY2

Like the two-engine Catalina, the Coronado is powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp, the same radial engine that drives the Consolidated B-24 Liberator, Curtiss P-36 Hawk, Seversky P-35, Republic P-43 Lancer, Vultee P-66 Vanguard, Douglas C-47, Douglas TBD Devastator, and the Grumman F4F Wildcat, to name a few… Sports page begins on page 13
