The front page says that Curtiss P-40 Warhawk pilots are shooting down Axis fighters on a 13-to-1 ratio. Impressive, since other planes like the Corsair are having tremendous success, but are new designs. The P-40 became operational two years before the United States entered the war…

Last month we discussed Staff Sgt. Benjamin F. Warmer, a former Secret Service employee, who shot down seven enemy fighters on the same mission over Sicily as a B-17 gunner. On Thursday, “Big Ben” was presented the Distinguished Service Cross for his feat (see page four)… Former All-American Tom Harmon has shot down a Japanese Zero fighter near Hong Kong — story on page six… Sports section begins on page 23…

Our 90th week of the war summarized on page 57… Four members of the D.C. police force have been killed in the war, including Lieutenant Wilmeth Sidat-Singh (see page 65).
