For over 50 years VMFAT-101 trained Marine aviators — starting with the F-4 Phantom II in 1969, switching to the F/A-18 Hornet in 1987. This mass formation is honoring the squadron’s legacy on the day of its deactivation at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, Sept. 29, 2023.
